First of all, i'm a lousy programmer, but i had to do this.
Happily I could use many parts that Simon Booth wrote, also i could use some code written by Paolo Biagini who wrote another decendants tree. Genealogical correct that last one only shows the children in the masculin line and i have dissentient views on family history on that point ;)

I expect severe problems with our legislation on privacy-matters when i keep phpmyfamily running like it does. Here in the Netherlands it is forbidden to give any details about living people so revealing the name even if there is no link is forbidden. In fact we recognise 3 periods for restrictions: Birth: 100 yrs., Marriage: 75 yrs. and Deceased 50 yrs.
In decendants.php i solved this problem, so there you'll see no names for living people. Instead you see the words "living person" or "deceased person" instead. Only marriageyears older then 75 yrs. are revealed.
In ancestors.php the same thing is active, but useless.
I did not make changes to the config-file, so it is not possible to change this behavior there. It is very easy to do that, but i don't want to change more than nessecary. After all Simon Booth is the man to decide what do do with these modules.

Another reason to change the output is that i've seen many very good sites removed from the net after there was abuse of the details shown of living people.

The new trees proved to me already to be a great instrunent to look for omissions and mistakes.

Things can be made more beautiful, i.e. No menu entrance if there is nothing to display, so no pedigree- and ancestor link if there are no parents and no decendants link when there are no children, but that is of later interest. Sure: people do press the pedigree button while it is obvious in the report they see that there are no parents shown :)

Enjoy!
